EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a treatment technique developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro in the 1980’s to assist in better treating those with PTSD and other trauma-related disorders. At two(forty)counseling we have been using EMDR for over 16 years to help those struggling with the results of past traumas find relief.

EMDR has also been used to successfully address symptoms associated with phobias, anxiety, and other struggles people may have which are rooted in false beliefs. Examples of these false beliefs would include, but are not limited to, statements such as, “I am not good enough,” “I have to be perfect and please everyone,” and “I cannot protect myself.” EMDR seeks to help you replace those false beliefs with truth, while simultaneously helping you reprocess the underlying memories so that they no longer have power and control over how you do life in the present.
